Metal

Metal is a genre the developed in the 1960's and 1970's in England and America, developing from Blues-Rocks but turning it into a thick and heavy sound with a lot of distortion turned up on amplifiers and lots of long and complicated Guitar solos and almost all drumming done with double bass pedals.


Early metal bands include Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. Motorhead brought a mixture of punk into the genre. Metal was made big in England through the band Iron Maiden. Glam Metal was brought in with the famous band Motley Crue. Then there was Thrash Metal with the most likely the biggest band in metal ever Metallica another sub genre is Nu Metal, Rap Metal, Metalcore and Hardcore punk.


The fashion styles of metalheads (term for people like metal) is usually black and metal spikes, many tattoos and piercings. They have long hair so that they can head bang.


Recent successful metal bands are SlipknoT, Disturbed and Avenged Sevenfold. Metal Concerts tend to be very energetic with ruff Mosh pits and many stage-dives and crowd-surfing. SlipknoTs shows have been rated the most energetic shows in metal
